Park History:
On May 12, 2008, Village Roadshow Limited (VRL) officially acquired Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park from its previous owner, The Waters of Kapolei, LLC in a $27 million business acquisition. Based in Melbourne, Australia, and with operations across multiple countries, Village Roadshow is a leading international entertainment and media company with its core businesses of Theme Parks, Movie Production, Film Distribution, Cinema and Radio.
VRL is Australia’s largest theme park owner operator with the best and most recognizable brands on Queensland’s Gold Coast. For more information on VRL’s other world class attractions visit us at http://myfun.com.au/.
Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park first opened in May 1999. We offer a safe and exciting family oriented experience for kama'aina (Hawaii residents) and visitors alike.
Over the years, we have added five new attractions and rides, the most recent additions include the Island Adventure Golf facility and Tornado ride. Along with in-park improvements and new ownership, our official company name has changed to Village Roadshow Theme Parks USA, Inc. doing business as Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park.
Our facility is designed to appeal to all ages and features a unique variety of age-appropriate rides and amenities from a Keiki Kove to a thrilling 6 story drop in a lush resort-like atmosphere. The park, which can comfortably accommodate 6,000 guests at one time, is one of the larger water theme parks in the world.
The park is on a 29-acre site in West Oahu bordered on its north side by natural cliffs. This portion of the island is one of the driest, warmest areas of Hawaii, providing the ideal atmosphere for a water park. The rides have been designed to take advantage of the slopes, cliffs and natural beauty of the site. The landscaping is filled with indigenous flora and fauna as well.
Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park recently received national recognition with the prestigious 2002 Platinum National Aquatic Safety Award honoring commitment to professional excellence. Jeff Ellis & Associates, an international aquatic safety consultant firm, rates water activity facilities through anonymous, unannounced videotaped audits three times a year.
The safety and security of guests is paramount to the management of Hawaiian Waters. All Aquatic areas have highly trained water-safety employees who have passed stringent, extensive and continuous training programs. All aquatic employees are CPR trained and certified. Park security personnel are highly visible and enforce the park’s zero-tolerance policy toward unruly behavior. In addition to full-time management and supervisory staff, trained medical personnel are on hand at all times.
The park employs 250 people during peak season and 150 people in regular seasons. The park provides extensive training for its employees and is an ideal training ground for those entering the job force for the first time. Opportunities exist in all areas of the operation, including guest services, catering and food, merchandise, landscape, water-safety, administration, marketing and maintenance. The park also employees a number of permanent management staff.
